Google Chrome OS first image preview leaked

Few days Google has announced the new Chrome OS officially, and now here is a leaked screenshots of the operating system taken by an anonymous person from an Acer parts supplier. We can still can’t settle if this is fake or not, but if you would go on the story you will find that this can be really true.

Here are the run down of the key features as describe by the author via Engadget:
  • The "elegant" install on the Acer Extensa 4620Z laptop took about 10 minutes and 1 restart
  • Reboots desktop-to-desktop in about 25 seconds
  • It was "amazingly fast" in its stripped-down beta form
  • The blue orb on the auto-hiding "Chrome Bar" along the bottom of the UI is essentially the start menu
  • Navigating the file system can be done in "exploration" (like Windows explorer) or "browser" (search based) modes
  • The Chrome Bar can also host a search bar if configured
  • Future Chrome OS netbooks will feature an iconified Chrome key on the keyboard similar to the Windows flag key

Microsoft Bing search engine

Everyday I used to open my Firefox web browser and go through my save bookmarks of technology sites. Luckily when I went through a page of New York Times, I saw the headlines “Bing, the Imitator, Often Goes Google One Better” By DAVID POGUE, reading from top to bottom of the article I find the suggestion that the author is in favor of Microsoft’s reinvented search engine Bing.

The article is a hit, the proofs is its nine turns of 201 reaction comments by its readers including me. Some readers commented that it was a paid article of Microsoft, that seemingly sense out since the company is willing to invest millions to promote the new search engine.

I have written this article because these lines “Bing is an acronym for But It’s Not Google” keeps on flickering in my mind. Which in my own discretion it entails not an insult to Bing, but to think a positive remark that set it difference from Google. The question is will Bing be able to impress its users to change their home search engine to Bing? Looks like people finds that Google is part of their web browser. And in the long run Google has mastered the way of finding the best answers with just a keyword on its mighty Pandora’s Box then a single click or press of a button.

But search services are constantly in flux. They’re online, so their creators can keep refining them without making you install anything. Bing will keep getting better — but so, inevitably, will Google. If Google doesn’t eventually respond by making its own results more manageable in Bingish ways, I’ll eat my hat.

Furthermore, beyond the basics, Bing is still just a baby. It lacks some of Google’s mature additional services like book searches and Google News (built-it-yourself online newspaper).

People won’t start dumping Google en masse; Google is a habit. Everyone already knows how to work it, and it may be built right into your Web browser. But if you value your time, you should give Bing a fling.

Put another way, even if Bing really did stand for “But it’s not Google,” that is not necessarily an insult.
I believe that Google will still be the number one search engine for me and even for you, but if Bing will introduce new features and advance results and more likely I'll set it for my homepage.

Does Bing will have an edge over time over Google? Let us see if it will set any difference or advantages, be “But it’s not Google”.

If you have time to read the NYT article you may want to leave some of your thought here just below along the comment line.

Safari icon

A minor update to Safari 4 has been released by Apple which addresses Mac and Windows stability and security issues. Seemingly the users are well satisfied with Safari 4.0.2, though some users note that there were plug-in issues with the update.

Apple claims that this update “improves the stability of the Nitro JavaScript engine and includes the latest compatibility and security fixes." The security fixes mainly addresses Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista WebKit-related bugs.

The Safari 4 has been reported for the past few months for its random crashes, and with this updates we are hoping that it resolves likely that issues. Far from other reports of plug-ins issue, we don’t yet experience it and if you have experience it just share it on the comment line below.

Google Chrome OS and business partnersCredit: Engadget

Google has successfully surprised the world with its Chrome web browser that has made over 30 million of people highly satisfied on using it everyday. The Android OS also has been gaining shares on the mobile OS market with over half a dozen handsets to be announced this year running the OS platform. The internet giant seemed expanding beyond these advancements with its official announcement of Chrome-centered operating system.

So today, we're announcing a new project that's a natural extension of Google Chrome — the Google Chrome Operating System. It's our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.

Re-thinking what the new operating system would be, the company fledged an open source OS built from the ground up. The new Chrome OS will focus on simplicity together with speed and security, like what the essentials we have seen on their Android OS and Chrome Web Browser.

Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments this are the following companies tagged by Google to a partnership for its entry into the operating system business. With ASUS and Acer we can see netbooks running the new OS and with Adobe unsurprisingly should we find fine line of flash support.

Although some of big name in the industry is missing in its business squadron, like Dell and Intel, Google still has lot of time to gather these forces. If the company will be on time, we would like to see netbooks running Google Chrome OS for availability sometime in 2010.

Apple iPod Touch Video case

Clearing your doubt for an iPod Video reality, the proofs has been laid to us by Tech Crunch and Macrumors, which has made as impression of what we should be watching and waiting for the next generations of iPods including the iTouch. If you’re satisfied with your iPhone 3GS video capability like we do, amazingly we’re impressed with its ability to capture HD quality videos plus the fact that it’s equipped with editing software and makes your video ready for a YouTube upload.

Finding these features on your iPods would really be a near view of Apple dominating low end digital camera market crushing it to grounds with iPods expected sale of 3 million per month.

The clarity for these rumors has always been around with its components manufacturers, as always we heard them coming from Taiwan, China and other part of Asia that has been the nest of cheap hardware manufacturers worldwide. According to Tech Crunch:

That’s exactly what we’re hearing is going to happen. One of our sources in Asia say that Apple has placed an order for a massive number of camera modules of the type that they include in the iPhone. These are inexpensive cameras, in the $10 range. And the size of the order, our source says, means they can only be used for one thing - the iPods.

Putting a camera in the iPod touch, which uses the same operating system as the iPhone, is a logical next step for Apple. But the order size is supposedly so large that some people in Taiwan are speculating that Apple may be planning to put cameras in the lower end of the iPod line, too. “Everything but the Shuffle may have a camera in it soon,” says our source.

While Macrumors claims two images of cases that are supposed to be designed for the upcoming iPod Touch and iPod Nano, and suggest that the next generation of said devices will indeed include a camera.

Apple iPod Nano Video Case
We can say that it’s too early to speculate at this time, but I’m sure it will be Apple logical move to bind video and photo features to its low end device as it shows a successful trends on iPhone 3GS. In addition, realizing the fact that YouTube has announced that its mobile video uploads has amazingly increased when the iPhone 3GS has launched.
